“Privilege & Consequence” Exhibit at CPAC in Denver
I am honored to have this photo in a group exhibit in Denver, Colorado at the CPAC (Colorado Photographic Arts Center) called “Privilege and Consequence”. It went up yesterday and it shows through January 8th.
This is an image I took during the BLM protest in downtown Portland last year. I call it “Who is in Kontrol?”. Last year, I was compelled to document how my city’s environment is changing. I am honestly not always comfortable showing work that is more political in nature, but it is a sign of the times that affect the urban environment I have always photographed. What I appreciate about this image is that it reminds me of a bigger picture. The media has a lot of power. No matter your political leanings, we are hearing stories spun to strongly support certain sides to create drama for ratings. Now our country is now so polarized. I don’t know the solution, but being aware of this media power might be a first good step.
