Visit my studio during Portland Open Studios

Inked photo polymer relief plates

I’m participating in Portland Open Studios – along with 95 other artists around the Portland Metro area. This is a great opportunity to see the private spaces where artists work, view demonstrations, and learn more about the creative process – from the inside!

I will be printing and showing some new work. Also two other amazing printmakers, Tara Murino-Brault and Liv Rainey-Smith will be doing demos as well. We each use completely different printing processes, so honestly, it is going to be quite the printmaking extravaganza.

To discover other artists’ studios in your neighborhood and experience the full range of artists at work, pick up a Tour Guide. The $20 Tour Guide is a ticket for two adults (children under 18 are free) and includes images of the artists’ work, a fold-out map, and a 2013/14 calendar. On a budget? We’ve also got a $7.50 Map Only ticket, also good for two adults, all four days. Tour Guides can be purchased through me, online at or are available at all New Seasons, and Muse, Collage, I’ve Been Framed, and Columbia Art. There is also a nifty Portland Open Studios app for iPhone and for Android. The app includes studio navigation via Google Map, the ability to add notes for future reference and search artist by name or media. It is only $9.99 a the app store.

Here is the info:

Dates: October 12th, 13th, and 19th, 20th
Time: 10am-5pm
Artist #73 in the tour guide

Exhibit at Black Box Gallery

Urban Graphic Photo PrintsAs I mentioned in a previous post, I have these spicy color images I took while shooting for my B&W photo etching prints. A good friend of mine wanted to buy a few prints, so I printed a few out to see how they looked at 12″x18″. Around the same time, I saw a request for artists at Black Box Gallery for a show called “Color: Photography Now” and I thought…why not submit a few? And I am excited to announce my image I call “Nick’s” got accepted. This image is of a run down restaurant facade I shot in Brooklyn, NY. The show is up on display from August 1st through August 20th and the opening is First Friday (August 2nd). The show really has an intriguing feel to it you can see it online here >. I am looking forward to seeing it in person.

Urban Graphics

Brooklyn CamoI thought I would share something a little different today. When I am out photographing for my composite scenes, the actual photos I take are not really quality shots on their own accord. Many of my photos are taken to capture entire buildings, statues, stores, monuments, and signs which do not always lend to eye-pleasing compositions. But….while I am out wandering taking photos, I can’t help but take shots of the amazing graphic details I see. So, I wanted to share a collection of them I have started. To see more, click here to go to my flickr account >>

Thank you Portland, OR and Brooklyn, NY for being so damn cool.
