“It’s Political” at Gallery 114

Portland in Flux

I am excited to share some brand new work. I have been photographing Portland, Oregon  for 8 years; I know the city well. After the recession lifted, Portland is growing at a insanely rapid pace. While growth is inevitable, and housing is needed, the pace is beyond natural organic growth. The city I know so well is changing at a blink of an eye, which is motivating me to record those changes. Two of my new pieces in this series will be showing at Gallery 114 this month in a show called, “It’s Political”…and this massive growth is definitely a hot political topic in Portland these days.

Opening June 2, 6 – 9 p.m.
June 2 – July 2 (Hours: Thursday-Sunday, 12-6pm)

Shifting the Pearl District

Pearl District Photo Illustration

I have started a new series of work called “Photo Shifts” and specifically I am currently working on using the Pearl District in Portland, OR as my subject. Basically, I have taken a huge number of photos of the area and went into Photoshop, “shifting” the buildings around in different ways to make these composites.

Here the full version can be viewed on Flickr >. Note that you can click the “all sizes” button above the Flickr image to see the large version and see it in more detail. There are three more of the Pearl so far, so click forward to see the others.
